Repeat Prescription

Prescriptions

Requesting

  • You can request repeat prescriptions online or in person
  • We will not accept telephone requests due to the risk of transcription error.
  • Please allow 5 working days for a clinician to review your request.

Hospital prescription requests

As agreed via our Local Medical Committees agreement with secondary care, all urgent prescription requests need to be provided by the hospital.

The time taken to provide a prescription can vary depending on the urgency:

  • If you have urgent prescriptions advised by the hospital, but have not received them, then you need to recontact the hospital team to provide this.
  • We have 2 weeks to provide a non-urgent prescription to you.

Direct to Pharmacy

Prescriptions are sent directly to a pharmacy of your choice.

Let us know which pharmacy you wish to nominate. This stays on your records but can be changed upon request.

Find a pharmacy near you

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies also have a private consultation meaning you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff in privacy.
