Non-Emergency Transport
Posted or Updated on 3 Jan 2024
Hello everyone,
As of November 1st 2023 patients will need to follow a new process to book patient transport.
Following a review of NEPTS it has been decided to move over to a patient-led booking process for all out-patient journeys. This will give eligible patients the option to book their own transport online or over the phone. This change is for out-patients only. The process will not apply to patients on renal dialysis or to discharges and transfers from inpatient beds - these will continue to be booked by Healthcare Professionals.
This change should ensure that only eligible patients can access NEPTS, taking patients through a list of clearly worded questions that they are best positioned to answer. It will also allow patients (and their families/carers) to be in control of their booking, to cancel or change the transport if necessary, and enable tracking of the vehicle for time of pick-up. SCAS will send a text to any NEPTS patient who has ever used their service to inform them of the change and what they need to do.
Please book NEPTS via the online system: https://managemybooking.scas.nhs.uk/patientzone
If it is your first use of NEPTS you will need to book via the telephone to be set up on the system. Thereafter the online system will be available.
